Ontplooien Na School / Flourishing Outside of School

An online programme for young people aged 16 to 23 in Flanders who want to develop greater confidence, wellbeing, direction and support — beyond the classroom.

School teaches many important things. But it does not always teach young people how to understand themselves.

It does not always create space to explore pressure, uncertainty, exclusion, family expectations, identity, future choices, or the feeling of standing between different worlds.

Flourishing Outside of School / Ontplooien Na School is a warm, reflective online programme for young people who want to grow in self-confidence, wellbeing, identity, leadership and a clearer sense of direction.

Why begin with a questionnaire?

Before developing the full online version of Flourishing Outside of School / Ontplooien Na School, I would like to begin by listening carefully.

The questionnaire will help me understand what young people are currently carrying, needing and hoping for. Your responses will directly shape the first 8-week in-person pilot programme in Mechelen, where a small group of founding participants will help bring the course to life through their reflections, feedback and lived experience.

Participation in this first pilot will be free of charge. In return, participants will be invited to take part openly, attend the sessions as fully as possible, and share honest feedback so the future online programme can be shaped with young people — not only for them.

The questionnaire helps me understand:

What challenges are young people facing right now?

What are they longing for?

What feels missing at school, at home, online or in their wider environment?

What would help them feel stronger, calmer, more confident and more free to become themselves?

The insights gathered through the questionnaire and the Mechelen pilot will help shape a programme that is human, relevant, thoughtful and grounded in real experience.
